The Citizens' Committee for Children Services, a political action campaign, was formed to promote and raise awareness of the critical nature of the work of Summit County Children Services (SCCS), responding to child abuse and neglect and keeping children safe in our community.
About Children Services
Mission: SCCS is committed to the safety, permanency, and well-being of all children served, in partnership with families and the community.
- Last year, SCCS served 1 out of every 12 children in Summit County.
- In the past decade, the number of children in SCCS's custody has increased by more than 50%.
- Over $22 million was spent for child placements in 2023.
Among first responders, SCCS is the only community organization mandated by law to protect abused, neglected, and dependent children.
About the Levy
This November, Summit County Children Services will ask voters to renew their existing operating levy, a critical funding source for the agency, by voting FOR Issue 40.
- The levy is a renewal at 3.25 mill.
- It provides approximately 60% of the agency's budget.
- The renewal will NOT create additional tax burden.
- The new property valuations do NOT affect the cost to taxpayers for this levy.
